"Monocromática" is a tribute to São Paulo — a city commonly seeing as gray due to its predominant urban landscape and for its cloudy and slightly cold weather. From the artist perspective, behind this uniform visual aspect, São Paulo is a very diverse city made of many shades and forms, which creates a very complex and interconnected environment.
The artwork also brings some visual elements from the brutalist and modern architecture found in the city and even a very popular visual fragment, which is the city’s iconic sidewalk pattern.
Diogo is an independent multidisciplinary creative and designer based in São Paulo, Brazil. His work is known for its simplicity in form, but expressive in meaning. He’s interested in the complexity of minimal. When there aren’t many resources, few graphics have a big responsability. He believes that in a world of excess, there aren’t many things as valuable as saying much with less.
